Please enjoy this Volunteer Spotlight!

Scott is one of our wonderful volunteers at the Lacey Food Pantry, and a jack-of-all trades. Known for his skills in organization, display setting, always thinking ten steps ahead, and genuine Southern charm, he is an integral wheel in the Pantry’s machine. Scott keeps a finger on the pulse of all areas of the food pantry, and is often checking in with staff to make sure all needs are met. Whether it’s setting up for an event, doing an emergency Starbucks restock, rearranging the entire walk-in freezer, or participating in an informational video, Scott is happy to be there! He truly proves a phrase food bank staff say often, “this organization runs on volunteers!”

We asked Scott what keeps him coming back to volunteer with us. He responded, “The positive environment that staff and volunteers create make it a warm and fun environment.” Scott also mentioned that he loves the mission the food bank carries of getting food to those who need it. He added, “I come from another state where the food bank access was behind a ‘prove your lack of income’ wall.” Lowering access barriers is important to Scott, and to us as well!

When Scott is not volunteering with us, he spends his time cuddling his cat Keee, watching ducks swim in the still pond, reading non-fiction books about space, science and economics, and playing New World Online.
The Lacey Food Pantry is so grateful to have Scott as a dedicated and regular volunteer. Thank you, Scott, for all that you do!
